New duck mom

Hi all!

We just got 4 silver appleyard ducklings. They are 4 days old! Just joining to learn tips and tricks and ask advice when needed. These are our first farm animals. We're in Corvallis, Oregon and loving the babies so far! They are happy in their new home with fresh water, greens, and clumps of dirt. They're finally zooming around the brooder after a day or so to adjust. Happy to be here!View attachment 2083199
What precious ducklings! You didn’t mentioned feed? And another thing many don’t know is if you feed anything other than their starter or all flock they need chick grit. They may get some in the dirt but they may not so best to cover that issue. All the best with your precious ones! Please do come on over to the Duck forum and share them with all of us! :welcome

Yup, they have feed. The farm we got them from recommended Purina Flock Raiser. We ended up lightly breaking some pellets up because they seemed too big and they've been going crazy with smaller pellets :) We'll look into additional grit.

Flock raiser is perfect and like you found out ducklings have a hard time eating that size pellets I usually crush up some with a hammer. Great feed for our waterfowl babies
We used our morter and pestle :) I've also given them some chopped up watermelon today which they love!!
