Good evening forum. I've owned my first 3 ducks since the 12th. I got them for my wife as her bday gift...and I wanted some eggs. To make a long story short. I had to get the ducks through a friend, through the place he got chickens. It was a hot mess. But I got 3. Not sure of their sex. Pretty positive on 2 of the breeds (Pekin and mallard) the third one is unknown to me. I have learned lots from the threads here and have created lots of new projects surrounding the ducks. It's great!! I hope to have lots of pics to show and be help when ever possible. Gonna go take. Few pics for identification.

Don't male ducks always have a drake feather that curls up on their tail? I've only raised one pair of ducks and it was about 10 years ago. But they are fun!

It looks like a Pekin and well the other breeds are different. I'm not sure the one you think is a mallard as I don't think mallards have that white ring around their necks and it would be a lot smaller than your Pekin. The other one kinda reminds me of a blue Swedish but it looks like it has to much white. Hmm they may be mixes. Did you get them from a hatchery?

I will have to ask my buddy who picked them up for me. He was not too sure of the breeds or sex. He told me a few days prior to getting them the place he bought his chickens from had ducks also and if I needed to (which I did) he would ride out and pick some up for me. It is quite possible they are all mixed. The ring on what I though was mallard is a fairly new development. Also the grey colored and possible mallard looked older than the pekin when I got them. The pekin(Aflac) was much smaller than the other 2.

As far as their current age. I am also unsure how old they where when I got them. Possibly a week on back on the 12th. I did just notice the black duck has some real feathers on its upper shoulders. Yippy!!!! They are mainly black with dark red/brown flakes. It will be an interested turn out if they are mixed.

Do you know how old these guys are? The one you think is a mallard looks like a Rouen to me. Rouen's are close to mallards, and if that collar just appeared, I bet he's a HE ;) I have a Pekin, and they were fuzzy yellow like that, they are much larger than Rouens. Pekins take longer to figure out, unless you can tell by the quack. You have to wait until they stop "peeping" though. Females are long and dramatic quackers, and drakes are very quiet and raspy. Or you can watch for the drake feather. We do have a swedish blue also, but I don't know what she looked like as a chick. That is how I would imagine them though. They can have black markings on their feet and beaks (sometimes with the orange/yellow). They do have a very distinct blue/grey hue in their feathers too.

I have been beginning to think daisy isn't really a daisy. Maybe a Darrell. Well if it is a he, i hope 1 of the other 2 will lay for me. Ill try and get some better pics in the AM. Thanks for the help.

Same here. I got a bunch of duck eggs from a local farm here where she had lots of different duck breeds just running loose and them laying eggs in her shed. So she gave me all these eggs and now I gotta try to figure things out. Of all the eggs only 2 hatched (while I was sooo hoping for a Pekin!) and they seem to be either Rouen or Mallards since they got one full stripe by their eye and another one a bit lower that is not all the way and not quite as pronounced so I'm kinda stumped.
Later I got me a couple of Pekins and now also have a Khaki duckling. Here's a pic of my duckies without the Khaki. Anyone have any guesses on what breed they are, since their bills are black/orange but their feet are all orange? Any help/guesses are highly appreciated.
