new duck owner

i got 3 ducks yesterday and was told they were 1 month old. i put them in a pen and was wondering when i can turn them loose in the pond. They already have some feathering. I have 2 rouens and 1 white pekin. When i turn them loose will they stay around or go exploring in the woods and neighbors yards.

how close is the pond to your house...how close is the neighbor to your house?

If the neighbor is close and has nice tasty grass and good napping shade, you might find them visiting them. lol

I would give them some time before letting them loose, just so they know where "home" is. Soo wait a week minimum for that.

I would give them a couple of weeks in a pen so they know where their home is. Mine are so used to their pen that they end up there half the time by dark without my herding them in!
