Chickens joined our flock in April

We welcomed chicks to our farm this spring. I quickly realized I remember nothing from helping care for chickens as a child many many years ago.

My chickens have been (mostly) patient while we get a routine up and running. I'm sure yours will be as well! What breeds did you get? They must be close to laying now.

Three RIR hens and a few others I don’t know. Two came to live with us after being incubated in my granddaughter’s first-grade class. We have nine total. At least three, we now know, are roosters.
