New duck parent

[New duck mommy 2021]

Hello! I’m new to ducks and every time I’m around my one duckling baby she cries and peeps… is this normal? She also pecks my fingers, my clothes my hands…. She cries when I pick her up… is she afraid of me?

Ducks need at least one more duck
It’s impossible for us humans to keep them company 24/7
Ducks play follow the leader with everything they do
It’s not healthy for the duckling to be a lone duck and it’s not healthy for you trying to keep it company
Also ducklings need all kinds of care
I know they are cute but if this is a rescue my guess is you haven’t thought about the long run when this cute little duckling grows up and all it’s care it will need
They poo a lot and as they get bigger so does the poo. This duckling will need to be a house duck if it is alone as it will grow very depressed sitting in a run and duck house itself all day and night
You will need to provide it with a safe yard or run that keeps predators out
Trust me I thought getting ducklings was Vert cheap a bag of feed 17.00 and lasts all month for 2
But I didn’t realize the pen build , duck house build would cost me a tone
They also needed so much more then a bag of feed like I had first thought
It’s best to either give it to rescue place , find someone that has ducklings who would take it or buy it a friend
