Is there other ducks there? Will they stay over winter? If so it maybe hard to get him, if the other ducks migrate and there isn’t any food for him you might be able to take feed to the shore and entice him in then you just keep moving the feed back till you have him out of the water you maybe able to get a few friends to help you catch him if you have or can borrow a dog X pen then you’ll just have to open one end and put food towards the back once he goes in to eat close up the opened end then go in and pick him up. Just a few ideas.

Enticing with food sounds good. I’ve also used a kayak and a large fishing net (like a tough butterfly net) to herd my ducks in a pond. I would expect that would work to catch your duck...
