Yes I think he was trying to go back to where I got him if I get him back should I put him in my rabbit hut or fence in a spot for him

I'd keep him where he can't fly away. Then once he learns where home is and it's safe to do you might want to consider clipping a wing to keep him grounded. Now whether he can find his way back home maybe a problem they are like homing pigeons so he may be lost. Unless your friend lives very close. He probably was disoriented and not having his flock caused him to fly off.

My friend lives about seven miles away from me and he flew off in that direction so I think he was trying to get back to his flock

It never appeared at either place I think it got eaten yesterday

i wish i did i couldnt imagine the frustration. It would be easier to catch him in the woods if your fast. Its harder to fly in the trees...

Mabye get his original feed dish from the original owner and fill it with his favorite treats and leave it on shore.. if he comes for it then put in under something you can drop on him like an upside down kiddle pool
