New Duckling Owner...

OK everyone, My girl/boy has sisters/brothers!!! I picked one Khaki Campbell and one Black East Indie. I didn't get to see any of the Khakis as adults in person but the BEI's were beautiful! He also has a pair of Royal Palm turkeys that were so cool. He's going to call me when he has hatchlings. I am so glad I only went with enough money to pay for the ducklings, I'd be in BIG trouble with my husband!

They all have been eating, drinking, and pooing (although I don't know which ones). They're currently grooming each other and seem to be becoming fast friends.

I really need to name them, but not knowing their sex makes it hard! I have been calling my Crested Qwakers, but that's kind of silly to me. I thought of Dockers or Chino for the Khaki, get it? Bali for the East Indie, or Raj from the Big Bang Theory.

I can not tell you how precious those pics are and on the first one it looks like your lil crested is smiling. and that last one with the snuggling is just adorable. Nice assortment of colors there. and poop too? yay!! Pics tell it all they seem so happy together. how was babies bottom any more stiff fuzz?

Miss Lydia I am going to give Qwakers a bath in a little bit, I was letting her get acquainted with her new siblings first. I asked the man I got the new ducklings from about the stiff butt feathers and sealed vent. He had TONS of ducks, and seemed knowledgeable. He said he has heard of it and thought that it was caused by dehydration and the stress of shipping, something about mucous.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit he is right, thank goodness this lil one was able to over come it all.

Sure makes you want to have more doesn't it? my only problem is a dh that would not be happy with me since I have 15 as it is. He just doesn't understand.

I am the dh here and my wife certainly hopes I keep my duck numbers the same. Not sure how to break the news that I would like a Jersey cow roaming around the yard!

How about a duck brooding on some eggs Carcajou? one of your own not a wild one.

I was talking to my uncle in Pa one evening and he says I thought by now you'd have some goats. I told him I only have one old goat and he's sitting on the sofa. My dh thought that was funny. A cow would be nice too.

I guess our own brood would be acceptable!
