New ducklings from TSC!

Yes, that was my first thought as well, so every time he'd get loud I'd go and check on them thinking he was cold, but he seems perfectly happy. Eating and drinking, wiggling, and usually isn't even under the lamp, but is on the other side. I really don't think he's cold? It's not constant either. Just like 4 or 5 times a day he sets off. We go in, and he gets louder for a few minutes. We talk softly to them and check everything and then he settles right down and goes back to business as usual. :idunno
Sounds like they already have you well trained

Hello everyone! We went to TSC to get dog and cat food and some chicken treats and..... they had these sweet little ducklings marked as "assorted". They were marked down because I guess they'll have a new shipment and soon and wanted these guys gone. So... we have 6 ducklings. I am having a REALLY hard time figuring out what breeds they are - and I would deeply appreciate any assistance! Thank you all so much!
is it just lighting or is the one swimming black? if he’s a cayuga your so lucky!!

I have a question - I am feeding my ducklings chick starter/grower (unmedicated) because that's all they had and I knew that if I had to do chick starter it had to be unmedicated. But.... there isn't an ingredients list that I can find so I don't know if it has niacin in it. Is this a problem? What do I need to do? Everyone seems perfectly fine and happy so far....

You will want to add in Niacin to the feed because you have the chance of pekins. they grow so fast it is really helpful to have a little extra. Most people use nutritional yeast usually you get it at the health food or super market. I use the liquid vitamin b complex and give mine a warm mush in the morning for several weeks with it in there just because it was easier for me to find.

Actually that's an old myth, ducklings can be feed medicated chick starter its the old chick food back then that had too high medication in it, If it's specifically for chicks I would supplement with brewers yeast or a poultry vitamin such as Rooster Booster or Poultry Cell. Pekins especially need niacin since they are fast growers and put on a lot of weight on their feet.
