Afaik you have cold(er) nights in Arizona (desert-climate), so yes a heat source for the night is a very good idea. They will tell you what they like.

Fortunately, he is in Arkansas. Being from Arizona desert country myself, I appreciate your comment, though, as the years passed and the city got bigger, anyplace in town was affected by “urban dome,” such that all of that concrete and asphalt just radiates heat back all night and the low temperatures in town don’t fall very far. Out in the open desert, it is another matter entirely.

Yes, the (damn) urban heat heat dome! Another reason why we moved to the countryside.

They don't seem distressed. I put a heat lamp out last night and they just huddled up in their box rather than under the light. I'm not sure it's going to be necessary, but I'm still going to leave a little sliver of warmer space with it at night for a week or so. They aren't sucking down water or panting, so I don't think they're too hot either. Thanks for the input!
