We brought home 2 ducklings from Rural King. The big sign said runners, but employee that helped us said they had 3 different types of duck in the brooder. I let my son pick out the 2 he wanted, but we have no idea what we got. I’m thinking possibly a pekin and a Rouen. I wanted to get opinions from people that know more than me. Whatever they are they are very attached to each other and my son already.
Here’s a pic of them cuddling with my son during a clean up. It’s the clearest I have that shows beak and fluff color.

Best way to keep your little mallard home is to clip the flight feathers on one wing once they grow in and there is no longer blood in them. I have to do it to my Muscovy females. It's not that they want to leave us but the urge to fly is just strong. My girls are very happy here and I know they are safe. Domestic Mallards are not meant to live in the wild adorable little ones :love

I doubt that RK sells Mallard ducklings! If you look at the brown ducklings feet, is there a "toe" facing backwards? If yes, then it is very likely a Rouen. The back-toe of Mallard ducklings is removed in all professional hatcheries. Also mallard ducklings are significantly smaller. The yellow one could be a Pekin, Fawn and White Runner or a White Layer. If the duckling stands upright - without being lured with treats! - it is very likely a Runner. If the bill is more fleshy pink colored it is a White Layer and if the bill is more orange its a Pekin.
In any case great ducklings! It is good to see that they are not afraid of you, keep up the good work and you will have adorable and friendly pet ducks. :love
