New, Dutch with Dutch Bantams

An update of my flock.

My baby chicks grew very fast and got over the cold/sneezing exept one chick, he had this cold for more then a month and grew up into a small cockerel.

After 7 weeks I suddenly had a dead chick and another chick was missing. It seemed that a rat managed to get in the coop and made two victims.

The mothers stopped caring for the chicks and moved thenselvels to a sleeping branche in the covered run for the night. The chickens went after them a week later.
And the hens started to lay eggs again.

The 6 chicks grew up fine and after 10 weeks it was clear that I had three cockerels and three pullets.
Happily i could bring my cockerels to someone who had a big flock of young sexed laying hybrids.
The cockerels could stay to protect e flock.

The three pullets stayed in my flock are one pyle and two black pullets with a little rust/brown in the neck and featherpoints.

One off the black pullets went missing one evening. Next day she waited for the coop door to get in. But the next evening just before bedtime I saw her fly into the apricot tree. I could take her out and put het in the coop. For two monthts she tried to sleep in the tree, even when it was pooring. But finaly she gets in by herself.

Now after more then 5 months I had a couple of tiny eggs of one of the young pullets. They weigh only 18 - 19 grams instead of the 30-32 grams of the hens.

I am so happy with my flock.
