(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
-completely new; just moved to a new house and ready to get started (mostly with quail, but chickens too!).

(Skip)

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
-being a producer instead of a consumer, raising happy/healthy poultry, eating healthy eggs and attaining as much self-sufficiency as I can.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
-reading, power lifting, World of Warcraft, crochet, sewing, and gardening even though I fail at it.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
-canine handler with three ferrets, a dog, and a cat. Married and a new homeowner.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
-I’ve known about BYC for a while after finding it through a google search on how to DIY chicken coops. I’ve been an on-and-off lurker for a few years now, and now that I’m finally been in a position to raise poultry, I’m looking to take the dive.

Extras: I’m looking forward to learning a lot from all you lovely people and making friends along the way.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

So glad you decided to join our community! You certainly have come to the right place for all the fun and learning. Lots of friends to be made here. :)

Make yourself at home here and enjoy all the chicken chat!

:frow Welcome quail enthusiast! What an adorable bird you have decided to begin with! :clap:clap
Are you thinking of sticking with cute birds? Both chickens and ducks come in bantam sizes. I enjoyed my bantam lavender Ameraucanas (Unfortunately, so did a cat), and I’m considering call ducks.
Even turkeys can be small. And cows, goats, donkeys... :D

:frowHowdy! Merry Christmas!
:celebrateGlad you decided to join the BYC flock & stock family!!!
