Wanted to open a tread for us in the New England area with this massive storm here.

Bedford Mass, 11:15 am, Temp is a Toasty 25 F, Snowing good, Small flakes (that means we are going to get clobbered :gig) Wind starting to pick up, gusts up to 50+ at some points near me but we are not there yet.

SNOW THUNDER just happened when i was outside. awesome.

Hens : Made a nice warm bowl of mixed Oatmeal, cracked corn and just sprouted Wheat.
Cleaned up Poop board like every day I do it and changed out the water for fresh. Yeah  I waited till it was snowing .
They are not going out because the Mean Ol' White &hit is coming down but the coop feels nice.
No one is laying today or yesterday but they are eating and pooping and no Frost bite when I checked them over yesterday evening :celebrate So all is good for now

I THINK I am suppose to get anywhere from 8-15 inches but we will see what happens in the end.
Snow started here at 7;15am and I just shoveled about 2 inches but it's blowing.
So I may just get 20 inches in the Front yard and 4 inches in the Back yard :lau

Anyone on the Cape ?? Heard Gusts to 75 !!!

Yeah, same here in Connecticut. We are getting hit pretty hard. Half their run is covered with a tarp, the other half with their water is not covered. I wanted to move their water to the covered part of the run but everything was frozen to the ground. They were all out in the run earlier in the morning and now they're hunkering down in their coop. I have metal shed we turned into a coop with no insulation. I'm hoping they'll be ok this weekend. The negative temps on Saturday are worrying me a little.

Yeah. I figured with this wind, less open area won’t equate to less ventilation!

I just staples up another tarp because the upper area over the pop door and run was uncovered and there was a lot of snow blowing into the run, which means they won’t all drink. Some go out in the snow but others don’t. I want them good and dry before the temps plummet again.

Also adding vitamins and electrolytes to their water.

South of Worcester in Massachusetts here. This morning I got eggs from both of the two old girls that have started up laying again. The other three are still on winter break and I don't even count the two little bantams.

Lugged a full 5 gallons of water out, cleaned the nipple water bucket and refilled. Lugged the 50lbs of feed and 30lbs of scratch from the car to the coop and refilled the empty bins because I forgot to do it yesterday.

I'll head out later to dump a bag of leaves in the roofed, tarped run to give them something to occupy themselves with. I have an old cantaloupe in the fridge I might gift them with.

I'm not too worried about them in this weather. It's actually warmer out there now than it has been lately.

Yeah, it was 15F at 5am and there were flurries and less than an inch of snow. I opened the chicken door and scattered some seeds right outside the door. Not one came out. They waited for me to toss some under the raised coop.
It's now 17 and windy and about 6 inches. We have a Blizzard warning in my county with an projected snow total 10 - 16 inches. Snow is supposed to end around 8pm.
I went out to collect eggs at 9am and give them a treat. There was around 4 inches at that time. I closed the chicken door. The girls were hunkered down under the coop, waiting for me to toss their treat under the coop. 20171230_132557.jpg .
I look out to the coop frequently and can see them foraging through the straw under the coop.
I don't offer anything extra in the winter. They get the same unlimited feed and treats year round. I do offer an extra treat at 1pm in below freezing temps when I check for eggs and dump and refill the under coop waterer. They have a heated waterer in the coop next to the feeder.
We just got a 40 mph gust. GC

GC one looks a big unhappy at you for waiting so long
HAHAHHAA

I try not to give them extras since mine like to go off their feed  Unless it is Super freezing out or a shi**y day like this I try to warm them up with oatmeal and stuff.
They won't go out now with all this wind.

I just got in from snowblowing to keep up with it. about 5-6 inches? Might be more, hard to tell since I was out before. It is dumping about an inch an hour since the damn deck was covered on my way back in, an hr later.
:rant AND DO NOT tell your older Male child to do the deck then say "don't forget the stairs" He will think you changed your mind and only wanted the stairs done :th:he

There is SO MUCH WIND ! I just finished watching a movie and was going to go out.
:pop But now I am memorized watching the wind Whip the snow all over !
Beautiful and scary all at the same time.

might as well just wait to get out in it. I think it will just blow back where I snow blew it :tongue

It is 2 feet deep in some spots due to wind and (I think) 10 in in other spots
