Our chicks are about 5 weeks old today and we are wondering when we can get them outside? Temps in the coop are around 40-48 at night and in the 60's in the run in the sun. Not that we want to kick them out yet,but yeah its getting close to that time

hi, its best to wait until they're 6-8 weeks, or untill fully featherd out before they can stay outside.

I second that, 5 weeks is still a little young. I waited until 8 weeks for mine, when I was sure they had full feathers.

we are from ct i would say wait till may better to be safe then sorry do you have anywhere to put a heat lamp in the coop if they get cold.

I am in Pa and I moved mine outside at 5 weeks but I kept a 120watt flood light in the coop for them because we have had some 30 degree nights. They were just getting too smelly and dusty in my basement.
