New Englanders! Much ado about New England!

We're planning to drive down on Saturday 16th from Northern Vermont. 3 1/2 hour drive straight through. I sure hope it's worth it.

Hi,

I'm new and from Southern Maine. I'm looking forward to going to the show tomorrow. I'm hoping to meet breeders of Bantam Ameraucanas, Orpingtons and Wyandottes, who might have pullets available in the spring.

This show is a big deal....master breeder points are awarded and anyone who is anybody will be there!

If you can manage to go to this show, even to just look, consider yourself lucky!!!

Oh I consider myself very lucky! From what I've read, it looks to be the Westminster of the chicken world!

Since I'm just a beginner, I'm not specifically even looking for "show quality" stock. (Although I will be admiring the best for sure!)
At this point, I'll be happy to have local connections for healthy, good tempered birds in the varieties I'm looking for. That said, if there are any breeders in the process of developing new colors, and need to find good homes for pullets which might not have the colors exactly as they want in the stock they are keeping for breeding... well then I'm all over that! I like the idea of having chickens in a variety of colors so I can tell them apart. Easier that way, for keeping tabs on who in the flock is doing what. For instance, I especially like the blues, but if it's a blue with say, red shoulders or a patch of white, it's all good to me.

Sorry to have missed you at the show yesterday. Maybe you saw me there. I was one of three people wearing a LED name tag that said HELLO most of the day. The other two were my wife and daughter. We bought 3 birds yesterday two SQ Silkies for my daughter, and a really nice bantam Buff Cochin rooster for my flock. My wife also "won" a silent bid auction on some Silkie hatching eggs which she split with another woman and her daughter. I would have won some WC Black Polish, but a teenaged girl who put in her last minute bid by overwriting an earlier bid took them home. Well, what would I do with 12 WC Black Polish anyway?

If I saw you there and you didn't mention you were a BYCer PM me and let me know which one you were.

Overall it was a good day except driving in the Mass. traffic.
