New Englanders! Much ado about New England!

I don't recall seeing anyone with an LED name tag. I was the one wearing a dark green fleece pullover hoodie.

There was sooo much going on, and so much to look at. Plus being new, I'll admit I was probablly being too shy for my own good.

Hey I was there on Saturday

it was my 1st time going and man it was great ,the show birds & show was outstanding , even the selling birds where great too, I wanted to buy some bantam call ducks and chickens but I holed off this time, I need to wire and net my large Duck Aviary first ,winter has put a whole on that for now but new time I’m all out in buying some birds .

On Saturday I did see a few peep’s with LED name tags on but I did know that the BYC MEMBERS had the pin on them or I would have said HELLO .

Again it was a good 1st. show for me
I’LL BE BACK

Alan

I was there, i was the one selling frizzle chicks and 2 white silkie chicks that every one wanted, hehehe
i was wearing a hoody black with blue writeing on the front.
i was showing the red frizzle cochin bantam, red cochin bantam, buff laced polish hen, the 2 phoenix boys, and oeg.

Hi Moxiechick-welcome to the 'hood. You will find tons of chicks all over southern Maine come spring. I recommend buff orps for their winter hardiness here in midcoast Maine. They are the first out of the coop after a snow, like today. I'll be shoveling them a path when the white stuff stops falling.

Hi. Orpingtons are one of the breeds I'm looking at. I'm hoping to find bantams, but they don't seem to be as common. I'm also looking for bantam Wyandottes and Ameraucanas.
I love the fact these are winter hardy, and all the various colors these breeds come in. Do you think these breeds would get along together, or would I be better off sticking to one variety? I like the idea of having birds in different colors, so I can tel them apart, know which birds are doing what, etc.

If anyone knows where I might find local bantam pullets in these breeds come spring, I would appreciate it! They don't have to be show quality, just healthy.

Ideal Hatchery just sent me an email saying their bantys are on sale .99 for strait runs.

Hi Moxiechick, and everyone else!

I was at the show on Saturday, and I saw those LED nametags! .. wondered if they might be a "sign" of BYC'ers. Didn't get to stay as long as I wanted.. I ran out of money and my 8yr old daughter got all practical on me saying we had enough and she was ready to go home (luckily we live very close)

Anyway, keeping different breeds together hasn't ever been a problem for me, but then I don't stray too far in the scheme of chicken breeds, for example small game birds with Jersey Giants! I have had Wyandottes, Orps, Rocks, Ameracaunas, Aracaunas, Leghorns, Brahmas, Silkies, etc. all together happily.

Best wishes!

I am so bummed out - the farm down the street hired me to butcher their meat birds this past weekend and there were more than I expected so I missed the show. It figures I make all the ones that are 2 hours away but both shows that have been within a 20 minute drive from me i've missed! Some day I may actually get a chance to meet more of you face to face. Hope everyone is doing well - I know its a little late but Happy New Year to Y'all!
