Yeah, my (forgotten) version of Brown 'n' Serve Rolls would be more like White 'n' Wait!

We also got some flakey white stuff - not enough to slow down the chickens - yet! Now it sounds crunchy against the windows...

I forgot to buy the rolls this year.
Do you know the grocery stores are not open on thanksgiving morning, not one of them.
I had to come home and make homemade dinner rolls. from scratch

which I have never even attempted before but like 5 mths ago I was reading somebody's post on Hey grandpa what's for supper and they were telling all about they're homemade bread so I bought bread flour and yeast and then chickened out.

Pun intended
So I saw that yeast in the fridge and decided what the heck.

And you know what? They came out awesome!

I am in Southern Vt. anyone else down here? Currently have chickens with a cold waiting to see what happens with that! Ughh

I've never tried making rolls from scratch! I'll bet they were nice and light, and probably not as overly salty as some of the processed ones are. My big brave venture for this Thanksgiving was canning pickled beets (those coconut-sized wonders from our garden weren't tough after all!)...they turned out nice and spicy!

oooh I love beets, I didn't plant them though cause nobody else likes them.I had big plans on canning this year but the garden was too small and we ate everything fresh. Next year the garden will be huge!

I don't remember seeing you around BYC. We're 8 miles below Rutland, almost in Wallingford. How 'bout you?
Sorry about the cold! (Who has it - you or your chickens?

) It's nasty out tonight, so hope you can stay in & keep warm.

Hah - I also had big canning plans and did two plantings of beets, one of which is still in the ground...not a good thing! Does this qualify me as the Procrastination Princess or what?
