It didn't start here until 4 this afternoon... I like the new stuff when it is falling it is pretty Especially when the wild birds come and sit on my shrub just out side this window in backof the puta screen....

I am looking at all the seed catalogs dreaming of spring We will be making new raised beds so we can enlarge our planting area...Looking for heirlom seeds will be starting seeds end of the month beginning of next ...I use plastic mulch and row covers to get an early start on some veggie...It will help warm the soil faster... Of course right now all I see is snow everywhere...but the sun is warming and we will be having ice out before we know it...

momofdrew, one neat thing that DH does for free fertilizer is brings in sea weed. You'd think the salt would do more harm then good, but its incredible! The wild life takes a turn at it before it begins to decompose.
The rose bushes loved the sea weed, wow, what was amazing about that is it jumped started the blossoms! I usually use epsome salts for the roses, but no more, give me a strand of sea weed! lol.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh

it will certainly be nice.

Yes I have read about using sea weed as a fertilizer... I used to watch a tv program, I wish it was still on, with Elliot Coleman and his wife Barbara Damrosh {They are Mainers} where they would harvest sea weed to put into the compost pile a couple of times a year... I try to stay away for the ocean during the summer months as the torrists are bumper to bumper along rye and hampton beaches...I do collect sea shells[rinsed] to put into the garden... lots of trace minerals...also Salt marsh hay is supposed to be excellent as a mulch...

any one in maine that is looking for shed coop i know a guy who builds on site and will travel most anywhere in maine he has good prices and will finance. low monthy payments. his site is shed solutions.net

Spook, I like that optimism...no more snow...ha ha! Our exchange student thought that because we have had more than the "average" number of school days out, that there wouldn't be any more!!! Now we hadn't even hit February yet!!! I said that would be like saying it's not going to rain anymore in the summer!!!

Rockport, Massachusetts! But my grandmother spent many years running a private club in Small Point, Maine and I worked for her when I was in college!

Spook I like your attitude

I do wish the weather would co-operate...I am freezing my butt tonight

Well, I call an end to winter. Sound good to the rest of you, we need to boycott it, not pay for its sponsors, just what else can we do besides fire mother nature, this is intolerable.

Yeah, wishful thinking- tonight's temps are just insulting.
My SIL lives in the same town as you. I think... We go every now and then on holidays and I don't drive it! Gosh, I could never get around that interchange coming down route 16 (?)! We get on in North Conway, although we have also been down through the small towns in Maine to get there. You do live in a nice area- lots of Lilacs if I'm correct! Gosh, hope I am not confusing it with another! If so, sorry, I'm still on the kick of firing mother nature!
