C'mon Ticks, there are more than 600 people in northern New England (even though winter is horrible here). How did your pretty pheasants do in that nasty cold weather? It went to -24 here in the Montpelier area.

Have I grumbled enough about how badly I hate winter? Although I'd rather have snow then ice and freeeeeezing!
What do you guys do in the winter for grit? Foolish me, all I have is sand and that is not enough.
Speaking of wild turkeys, our neighbors feed all the animals- including a momma bear and her cub- made me shudder, but you know how people get!
But from them, we get to see about 10-50 turkeys a day. They wait out the weather in the wood shed, garage, doorstep and NO I'm not kidding! Buggers.
I have had a taste of wild turkey (legal guys) and it was all dark meat and tough, but it was edible. I wouldn't hunt one tho.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!

Its been snowing here for 2 days straight, but its not that bitter cold that we had at least.
Its always warmer when it snows, so at least there is that.
Just checked on my 2 new chickens, the blue laced red wyandottes that I got at the show.
They haven't moved out to the big coop yet, they are in the carriage house.
The hen did not like the other chickens that are in the grower pen at first (which shocked me how aggressive she was) so I pulled her out and put her in the pet carrier the first night, but I let her out yesterday and they seem to be settling in.
The rooster seems to know that he is the king of the coop and doesn't need to prove anything.
I can't even integrate them into the big coop yet because of all the snow.
I won't do that until the yard is clear enough that they all can free range and get away from each other if need be.
I really hate integrating animals but the last ones only took a few days before they were all roosting happily together.
So gotta wait for all .... this .......snow to go away.
Think I will go wake up my son to shovel out a path again.

Man, we finally got out of that bitter cold snap. About 4 inches of snow yesterday morning, a break in the afternoon. They told us to expect another inch or so overnight. Woke up to 4 MORE inches of snow! Good thing we're all off from school today!
Heat wave now, it's 35!

We got almost a foot with this new snow but it has warmed up to over 32 whoopee...just remember spring is coming...it always does...sometime early sometimes late but always...that knowledge keeps me sane

My girls are asking "when the heck's this going to be all over???"

They want to roll in the loose sand again, not their ucky coop wood shavings. But here on Cape Cod, it's Jan, Feb, March, March, March, March, March, July. Long way to go before planting tomatos.

Hi to you all. I haven't been on this thread much, I guess because I feel we're all so far apart, there's never going to be a chance to meet any of you...
