These are Lite Brahma's. As little fuzzy butts they are so sweet, wish I started out with these!
I put my hand in the brooder and they all run for me, not away! Honestly, they are sweet. Previously I hatched our Ameracauna's and they were skiddish and ADHD! They are 2 years old now and still, they go from one place to the next.

Have any of you NEers dealing with some of the cold virus'? Finally after almost 2 weeks mine is breaking up- slowly. I have forced myself to drink, taken mucinex until I dread it wearing off- lol!

Interestingly, that batch of Lite Brahmas that I hatched, I opened the remainder of the eggs to find that all were fertile, several had pipped through the membrane and that was it.
Have you guys here ever seen such a thing? I've spoken with the hatchery and there is no ill intent on the eggs that I bought, but have you ever seen such a thing? Most were fully developed, veins dry etc.
Well, another north east day to smile about, but it seems like the girls are bickering amongst themselves. Egg production is slacking and pecking order has changed- any one else finding this?

Hello Everyone!! I just joined today cause today I FINALLY GOT MY CHICKENS!!! (sorry for shouting I'm excited)

I have been working on dh to get these little cuties for 15 years!! Persistance pays off and today we picked up 9 6 week olds. 3 Barred Rocks, 3 Wyandotts and 3 RI Reds. Its still a little chilly here in CT and I have been running outside frequently in the pouring rain to make sure that the girls are snug in their new home. I'll be going out again with a big flashlight one more time before turning in. Don't want my babies to be cold!!

Oh and about us..... myself, dh, our 3 mostly grown boys17, 20 & 22) , 3 dogs (terrier mix, dalmation, german shepard, all rescued).
We are working towards a more self sufficient lifestyle and rumour has it dh wants to add some pigs too. But that's another message board.

Thanks for having me and looking forward to learning from all the experienced chicken parents.

Happy Easter Everyone!

Hi All-took a few days off to the south and came back home to no snow! The Easter Bunny was very happy to not have to hide eggs in snowbanks this year. My chicks are ordered and I'm just waiting for the May babies to arrive. The rest of the flock is happy with weeds and grass popping up and the free ranging is much improved over the past two weeks. Spring is really on its way.
