Has anyone ever used one of these before? Pros? Cons? It doesn’t feel like it is warm enough to me. I’d appreciate any feedback

Hi,
Yes we bought one once .can't remember the name brand . Check for a warranty, our was smelling bad and when we opened up the sealed electric box the wires had burnt. The plastic was melted and everything! They offered to give us a new one??realky ?

When it worked they had to stand right in front of it and they were fine

So I’m Leary of them , I use a milking heater , basically a barn heater that has a fan and we blow it out once a week or so , it hangs from a chain out of chickens reach

Never used it but there are other brands of "heat" plates. I went from heating with a light bulb to Blooie's MHP (she has an article/thread) & so glad I did. Yours looks like one of those heat plates with works on the same concept as MHP. Chicks go under it or on it like they would a hen, you adjust the heat by raising or lowering the height.

Chicks are quieter & not so skittish. Have raised several broods with it and won't go back to the heat light, no more worrying if it's too hot & fire. Check out Blooie's article/thread.

Make sure to not only securely clamp the heat lamp on but also tie an additional rope or something on it to secure it to something else in case the clamp fails.
