Hello, everyone. My husband and I purchased our dream farm in November and moved in mid-December. We decided that chickens would be easy enough to start with. 4 weeks ago, we purchased 18 egg layers (6 each: Americauna, New Jersey Giant, and Black Australorp). 3 weeks ago, we purchased 24 Cornish-Rock crosses. We still have all 18 layers, but we're down to 23 Cornish-Rocks. We have found raising chickens to be fun so far.

Well, I guess that's it so far....I'm excited to start looking around and getting some answers to some questions (one of which has already been answered: how to tell my NJGs from my BAs).

A big congratulations on the new farm.
Those are good breeds of layers. I love JGs.
Give chicks a warm spot and plenty of cool space so they can find their comfort zone.
Ventilate, ventilate, ventilate. Don't worry about cold weather, they can take it.
Don't be tempted to spoil them with treats which should make up no more than 10% of the diet until you learn about optimum nutrition.
What happened to the CX?
