New feature: Add images to site categories instead of albums

You can now add gallery images to site categories instead of albums:

Albums are mainly used for organizing a collection of your own photos, while anyone can add media to site categories.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. You can access categories in the gallery sidebar.

I put (most) pics in my albums so I can access them via the media icon to put in posts over and over.
Not sure why I would want to put pics in gallery categories?
If I 'add' a pic to this site I usually want to be able to easily find it again.
Maybe I'm just confused about the more than several ways to use/add/post pics on this new platform.

It's mostly for people that want to collaborate and share pics of a particular type.

Personal albums are still the best option for the use case that you're most interested in (re-posting the same pics into posts, etc.).
