WOW you've got alot of them! This is only my seconded day to have chickens I put them in the coop last night and open the door this morning now they want to stay in the coop if they come out ill get a pic for you do you think I should make them come out , it is 40 degrees here mb their cold?
. I doubt they're too cold. Chickens have a pretty high tolerance to cold weather. Even the little one should be okay.
. But if you start to notice that the tips of their combs are turning black or yellow, you're seeing frostbite. You can spread petroleum jelly on their combs to prevent it, but it shouldn't really be a problem if you only have hens, since most hens (and some roosters) sleep with their heads under their wing.
Good info I just got the name of the hen also listed above I have a feeling we will get some different bantams there pretty neat. We told ourselves we were only going to get six yesterday and we brought seven home
If you want more bantams I definitely recommend d'Uccles. They're very sweet and tame. The roosters are usually very laid back, and mine hardly ever trey to mount the hens (kind of a problem when I WANT to breed them though....). They don't lay many eggs but don't go broody often.d'Anvers are also good, and very cute. The hens are very laid back and lay lots of little tiny eggs, and rarely go broody. The roosters can be aggressive, but they're so small that they usually can't do very much damage. Cochins are great, but they go broody a lot. And you can usually find just about any standard breed in bantam form too.
