New food - help!

I have 4.5-week old chicks who have always had one type of starter food. Yesterday I ran out and switched to a different type. They refuse to eat it! I can’t get more if the old stuff till tomorrow (Amazon can only work so many miracles!) Are my chicks going to starve themselves?? What should I do?

That seemed to help a bit, but I seem to still have a few particularly picky eaters. I'm hoping the old food that they've kicked out of their feeder into the pine bedding will keep them going until the food arrives tomorrow.

I'm also going to take them on a few field trips outside so they can get bugs and grass and stuff.

I don't actually need to be worried they'll die of starvation in 24 hours, right?

The won't starve themselves. Try sprinkling some of the new stuff where they can see and hear it falling. They're curious and will investigate it.

You can peck at the feeder or ground by the feeder with your finger, too. Sometimes that helps them understand some new stuff is food.
