Bastrop here. Let me know if we can be of any help. Right now dealing with the great Raccoon insurgency of 2013. Best advice I can give ya is build a coop you cannot figure out how to get into!

Hello Mini neighbor. I caught 2 coons last week so problem is calm down now in my yard. Still the heat is causing several to pass out, both adults and chicks.
 
Mini, did you enjoy the rain .. it rained last night and again this morning, surprisingly ! I caught another coon last night in Cedar Creek.
 
Rain moved south of us and we had little more than a drizzle. But we will take it!

yeah, the Raccoons have been really bad. Was talking to a pest control expert a few days ago. said worse year ever for them here in Central Texas and could be linked to the fire of 2011 and the moving critter populations. last night coyotes were on the fences. LOL, no one said raising chickens was easy, but it sure is fun!
