Hi,
Let's try this again as the 1st poofed! I'm Dorrie if you're wondering. This is my first time joining an internet site (except facebook). We just bought a home where I believed we could have chickens.... oops. I've never had them though my parents did for meat and eggs on a tiny, tiny lot with a tiny house on a dirt road inside a city (Bellflower) in L.A. county. No one complained so what's up with Cedar park???. Anyways, I'm going to give it a try with a small flock (is it a flock without a rooster?) that I'll keep away from property boundaries and inside safe run (most of the time). I probably won't be ready til next spring. I'm planting grapevines to add extra shade and privacy to the coup and still need to build fencing and coup.I'd like chicks for meat and eggs but I may stop at eggs considering it's considered taboo around here. I've been getting to know my neighbors and I don't think they'd mind a rooster which would round out my chicken family. Is anyone around here trying to get the laws changed in Cedar Park? I'd like to help.

As for introducing myself.... la, la, la....5 ft 2, eyes of blue, oh what these 5 ft c...what...oh sorry... Happy Nana helping to raise independent, intelligent, responsible, happy grands after beloved passed. They're already pretty hardworking happy useful grands now. Hope to freerange them as possible. Used to have 14 bed organic garden. Daughter and I are working on developing yard. Have installed 550 gal cistern, she's dug wicking bed (not finished), and build me compost, mulch, ect bins. We're trimming and removing dead trees. She can do nothing do nothing right without me patting myself on my back.. :) Never have enough time but always have enough fun and love.

Thanks for being here to teach, support, and listen to my advice (which never ends but should be seasoned with salt and chewed before swallowing )

! Great to have you with us! Have fun with your flock!

Thanks for the welcome. As I get my act together (in the chicken area) I'll post pics. Wanted to say sooo funny. I admire and quote TJ often, my motto and answer to BF is "Heck with old age, I'm starting my second childhood early!, and my 8 year old grand and I were laughing about kicking in pants as you replied. Continued luck and happiness to you too.
