G’Day from down under Bob :frow Welcome!

I am sorry the news about your coop was not better :( We battled with a kit coop for a while which became two kit coops joined together and then we just gave up, tossed them and built one. While OK for starting out with a couple of chickens, sadly the kit coops are extremely lacking and sometimes I wonder if the designers have even seen a chicken ;)

Anyways, I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out :D

Welcome to Backyard Chickens!

One thing you can do is add something like a hoop coop to the end of the run. That would give you a place for them at each end. You can also add an extension to the run too.

Yes, I plan on adding additional run space at the end of the coop, another 40 square feet. Still only gonna get four chickens to begin with since the roosts I have will only accomodate that many.

Great, I appreciate it. I have a feeling that the kit will be more of an intro to chickens and that I will have to build a much larger, sturdy space once my wife gets a little experience under her belt.

Thank you.
I would say 2 chickens, max 3 would fit intros coop.
Can you return it and build one?
It's cute! If it's already out of the box & setup. Consider smaller breed chickens. I had small brahmas, now I have Giant & standard. Medium eggs. Bantams small eggs. Hens are funny - Mine cuddle up crowded on one perch and leave the other perches empty.
