been reading and taking in all the valuable information here. I live in CT on the shoreline getting my first chicks beginning of June. I live with 1 german shepherd, 2 aussies and 4 cats.

I'm sure I'll have questions as I'm 'new' to the chicken owning experience tho my grandfather raised them for years.

Raising for eggs and enjoyment:)

Hi Diane. I am new here too [although I have been 'trolling' for a few months]
I live on Cape Cod and I have had 5 hens for about a year now.
I love them. And I love fresh eggs.
I give away 2 to 3 dozen eggs a week, to relatives, friends, the ladies at the library, even the guy who delivers heating oil. I get excellent feedback on the quality and freshness of my eggs.

My girls do good work!
