New from Devon UK

hello @Quack and Squeak - welcome to BYC :frow

I know Devon quite well; whereabouts are you?
There's a UK thread too by the way, here https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/uk-member-please-say-hi.655508/

I'm sorry he lost his lady, but I LOVE the photo of your beautiful drake and his Croc!

Lunatic broodies and ankle-attacking drakes sounds like home to me. Are your girls making chicks or just defending empty nests? When they're broody, mine will scream as much over an eggless nest as one where they've actually laid.

My drakes don't attack me, but heaven help the female ducks when the boys are in the mood for romance.

Best wishes with all your birds, and welcome to BYC!

Yep he is a gorgeous boy - was an only 1 of an incubator hatch and grew up thinking we were ducks. His birthday is celebrated every 15th of May and his name is Quack.

The broodies sit on the eggs that we need for selling or just an empty nest. They aren't fertile as we don't have a cockrel. Two of them are sisters and they go broody every year without fail.

Glad to meet you, and welcome to BYC. That is a wonderful picture of your lovelorn drake with the shoe! There are periodic photo contests on BYC, and you should consider entering that here.

You sound like a confident and knowledgeable owner, but in case it's helpful to you, here is a nice guide to ducks. As you get more comfortable here, you might consider adding your own articles about duck care.
