New from Hayden Idaho

Hello, LeAnna, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
That is a LOT of chickens! How big is your coop!?

it started with using the entire lean-to on side of garage that husband built walls in. (About 10x 15) And a large covered chicken run attached to it. (8x 32?) Once they started getting big he put up a fence surrounding a large area (Maybe 50’ x 50) that has a lot of trees and vegetation. They seem to love it. It is permanently open to them and most go out there during the day. They are eating everything they can reach. So they are clearing a large area. They take naps out there in the shade in the afternoon. They all go back in the coop in the (lean to) at dusk. It’s starting to get cold so we are in process of figuring out how to get their areas ready for winter.

Welcome to BYC. You gave come to the correct place to Learn. Show us your flock pictures! We love pictures.
Yes, it sound like you'll be prepping for winter and putting up some serious electric fencing will be suggested to keep those hungry preditors at bay.
We have some very knowledgeable people on here from around the globe. They are are always willing to lend some tried and true lessons to help you be successful.
Welcome again and try to stay warm. Burr...

Hi. My name is LeAnna
I’m brand new to chickens. I have hatched and acquired a LOT of them in just 6-8 months. 76.
I have Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire Red, Buff Orpingtons, Cream Legbars, a couple polish red ones, a couple barred rock hens, a bunch of mixed Marans and mixed Americana’s, and a couple mystery hens I got from
I started because I loved the thought of always having fresh eggs. Then I got a little carried away wanting different colored eggs. But now I just love watching them and how cute they are. We are amazed how they seem to each have distinct personalities.
We live on 10 acres,9 of which are trees (forest). Wejust moved to Idaho last year. We also have Dwarf Nigerian goats and Shih Tzu.
I love gardening and the men love nature so we love it here.
I joined because many of my hatched eggs turned out to be roosters and I have to make some very hard decisions. I need to get advice to make sure I keep the best ones.

Welcome to BYC! Hope you like it here!
I haven't been here that long, but I like it!
