Hi! I am a new member, but not very new to byc. I have been getting helpful information for almost a year now for my new(ish) flock of 7 chickens and 11 ducks. Here is my info:

(1) when did you first get chickens? I got my first chickens from a local swap about a year ago. I started with Salmon Faverolles, 4 hens (Henrietta, Penny, Nugget, and Precious) and my beloved rooster Don.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Since last year, my neighbor got my Rooster, Don. He was my baby and my first loss. His passing me the hardest. We recently got another Salmon Faverolles roo, Hei-Hei. He lives up to his name completely, and he is definitely a few marbles short of a bag, but is greatly loved and spoiled. :) We also had Nugget go broody this past summer, however, I guess she might have a few marbles loose too, because she killed the first chick that hatched, and went after the other two, but I was able to save both of them and raised them away from her. So we now have a 2 month old roo (Pippin) and hen (Merry).

(3) What breeds do you have? Our chickens are Salmon Faverolle, and our ducks are Indian Runners.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Searching for help with bumble foot.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Keeping up with our small farm and homeschooling my two children.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. We recently retired from the military and are thankful to finally settle down and have our dream farm that we could never have before because of all our moving. We have 4 horses, 4 alpine goats, 7 Salmon Faverolles chickens, 10 Indian Runner ducks, 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 pet rats. (Don't judge, they belong to my daughter) :)

Welcome aboard! :frow
We are glad you joined our flock.
