Hi everyone! My name is Lynette and I got 13 chicks this past spring. I grew up on a farm, but this is my first time having chickens of my own. Of course I had to get my husband to give in and let me get them. He was even sweet enough to build a nice coop for me. Anyway, I have 3 Rhode Island Reds females, 1 Barred Rock female, 1 Isa Brown female, male and female Silver-Laced Wyandottes, female Old English Bantam, male Golden Sebright Bantam, and 4 booted Bantams. I got them for eggs and as pets. I am not going to eat them. You should see the looks my dad gives me when I tell them that they are going to die of old age. Growing up, we ate the chickens if they no longer had a purpose. I personally can't kill and eat something I raised. I have gotten pretty attached to them. Looking forward to talking to all of you and I am sure I will have questions as I go.

My husband did not and still isn't thrilled. My family thinks I have flipped my wig.

I think it is a very good thing. I do not know what breed my chickens are... I have a whole slew of different types.. I have tried and tried to post pictures and the only thing I have been able to do is to make an avatar..

Look forward to talking with you.

Shelleyb1969, will you have silkie and cochin bantams for sale next spring? I want to get some, but I wanted to find something close by rather than having them shipped to me. I noticed that you are in Brown City and that is only about 15-20 minutes from me. And my husband has already told me that he didn't want to drive me all over Michigan to get these chicks for me either lol.
