Hey everyone!
First time chicken owner here along with my wife, 1 1/2 year old daughter, and a newborn on the way.
We have 7 chickens currently, a bantam, rhode island reds, orpingtons, and ameraucana. Unfortunately two of the chicks turned out to be roosters and we are currently looking for a new home for the black orpington and rhode island red roosters.
- What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens: We love watching the roosters when we allow them out of the run. They are such interesting animals and they are quickly becoming members of the family.
-What are some of your other hobbies: Both myself and my wife also enjoy pottery, gardening, being out side, and spending time hiking or at the beach (I've been surfing for about 20 years at this point)
I am eager to read and learn on here and post where I can. I am an environmental teacher myself and love learning and participating in discussions about the benefits of sustainability and farming practices.
