Howdee!
I am new to this addiction. My oldest daughter spent a trimester in Hawaii and while she was there she was in charge of a large flock of hens. When she returned to Utah she wanted her own.
We got two EE's and two Australorps and set up a brooder in the garage. The chicken tractor is almost done and the chicks are about to fly the brooder so the transition is about to take place.
I am almost certain that one of the Australorps is a roo...
We cannot keep roos in our neighborhood. His tail feathers grew in slower than the other lorp and he has a mucho bigger comb and bright red waddles even at the tender age of 3 to 5 weeks. Time will tell. The EE's have most of their feathers and are starting to look rather distinguished. Both appear to be pullets so we will most likely end up with three instead of four.
