Guess I'm really only half-new, as I joined several years back, but we were in a town that (twice!) shot down a change to laws about backyard hens so until now, really had no reason to post or really take part.
Happily, we've been on our 15 rural acres for a year and a half, and now that we're fairly settled in, are hoping to finally start with chickens this year. Mostly we're interested in eggs and meat, though as a lifelong bird-lover, I look forward to simply enjoying watching the chickies do their thing (and turn over the garden soil in the autumn, ha). At the moment we are having fun reviewing our "desired birds" list and thinking about coop placement and design. The former is much easier after we attended the Ohio Nationals a couple of months ago!
For what it is worth, Hubby & I both very much always enjoy reading posts here. They're informative and often amusing. Animal folks have the best sense of humour, if you ask me.
Nice to 'meet' you all! *wave*
