Hi,
Just signed up today. Great site... learning alot. Just picked up my 6 girls from The Tractor Store on Monday and right now they are doing great in their Rubbermaid brooder. Guess I need to get busy building the girls somewhere to live!! Hope this pollen gets washed away soon.. don't think the girls will take that as an excuse for not having a home down the road and they can't live in the sunroom forever. Well.. they could but ain't happening!

I thought I had decided exactly where my coop was going to go, but now I'm concerned about not having electricity for a light down the road. I want the coop out back near the garden so that in the winter months when the garden isn't planted the girls can till / fertilize all winter long in the raised beds.

Anyone else in Georgia NOT have electricity in their coop? Pros / Cons?

And what about having a hose at the coop or some sort of water spigot?

Thanks in advance.... I gotta lot to learn!

from Kansas I don't have electricity running to my coop but I can run an extension cord to the coop for a warming light in the winter if I need to.

Welcome to BYC. I have neither water nor electricity running to my coop. However last summer during our record heat, I ran an extension cord out to the pen and rigged up a fan...had it on 'high' during the day and on 'low' at night blowing into their house. I have a bunch of 3 gallon plastic containers that I clean, change and fill with freshwater daily....summertime I do it 2 to 3 times a day.

I have power in my coop but no running water.......might have to remedy that.
