1muttsfan - you mention an incubator. I'm picturing going right to young chickens and skipping the egg and chick phase. I just think it's a lot of work and equipment for such a short time and since we can only have a few hens, probably not worth the effort. Also worried about what I'd do if I got a rooster. Now I'm curious about the rest of you... I'll have to do some forum searching to see what most (some?) small urban chicken keepers tend to do. I can see if I had room for 20, I might do the chick thing and add some to the flock every few years.
