Hi BYCF members,

I have had the chicken fever most of my life, but got serious about raising and breeding chickens about 8 years ago.
At last count I have 21 Black Javas and 8 White Javas.
I fell in love with the Black Java breed and included White Javas just to mix it up a little bit.
I am hoping to pick up some white and black silkies this year to compliment my daughter-in-law's flock of silkies.
I also have a 5 year old peacock, Arthur, who walked into the yard one day, about 3 years ago and decided to stay.
My daughter-in-law Jennifer told me about BackYardChickens.com.
Other hobbies include gardening, 4-H volunteering, reading.
I am a wife of 33 years this March, the mother of 3, step-mother of one and the grandmother of 11; which keeps me pretty busy too.
I was asked to be the Switzerland County 4-H Poultry Superintendant this year and I proudly accepted. I love working with children and hope to introduce a love of poultry to the children of Switzerland County, Indiana

Hi, thanks for the welcome.
Yes we have a little snow here in southeastern Indiana and the kids have a school delay this morning.
I am learning my way to navigate around the forum which is a little intimidating.
However, I think I am going to have fun discovering how it works!
