Hello!

We've had chickens for a year now. We started with 2 lavender pekins (one frizzle one smooth) and then on Easter Monday we had a couple of chicks hatch (we'd been given some fertile eggs) and then we adopted 2 other chicks off a family member who had lots!

So we've now got 6 hens. In 2 different coops. They spend time in the garden when we are at home but not when we're out as our garden leads round the side and only a short gate divides it from the road. If we move I hope to have them free ranging all day.

We've also got a kitten so we're excited about introducing them when kitty is old enough to go outside.

Oh and I've two kids, both girls, one is 2 and one is 4. They love the chooks and are very keen to help clean them out!

Hello, we are in the Uk too, we had 7 chickens, two died recently, so we now have 5, hoping to get another 3 or 4 soon, we are in Gloucestershire, we also have 3 cats, we have had chickens for nearly 5 years, have been through some learing curves, even tho my husband was once a farmer, there is still a lot to know. One of the biggest shocks to us was that mites can kill chickens, thats how two of ours recently died, so we now have a plastic coop, got rid of the wooden one, because of the mite problem, we are mite free now thanks to Ardap and Frontline, Our chucks are in an enclosed pen,so no predators can get them - welcome to you..
