Hi, we found this site because me and my boyfriend are serious about having chickens. We are very new to this and have no chickens at this time.
We are trying to decide on what breeds will best suit our needs.
From looking around the site , it looks like this will be a great place to educate ourselves and hear real peoples experiences and opinions on different breeds.

Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me so far.
Weimarmama, Yes i have been looking thru the breeds and reading reviews. I have already picked out at least 4 breeds that i like. The buff Orpingtons,Salmon Faverolles, Black Australorps and the Plymouth rocks.
We really want friendly chickens because we also have 2 dogs, a cat, our retired horse who is usually calm but has never had chickens around and our really shy goat who never leaves our horses side.
They also need to withstand the cold Wisconsin winters and still lay eggs.
I really would appreciate any advice and input on my selection.
