New future quail owner here!

OMG I just saw wht i was informed was Bobwhite quail chicks at the feedstore yesterday and I havent been able to stop bugging my husband about some....they were so adorably tiny. what do they eat? how do you house them? They are so small they must not go outside i wouldn't think? how do you ever keep them safe? I would love them but theya re so tiny I would always be afraid they would get hurt somehow....I couldnt; help but notice they looked a lot like my pearl guinea keets did , I mean in color. How can I learn more about them? Oh, and can they be handled like a chicken? All i have had for two years now are guineas and banty chickens. Wow who would have ever thought something so tiny would be so cute....anyway I guess I am rambling....sorry.

Bobwhite quail are not the best starter quail. LOL They grow much bigger, can be hyper and skittish, you cannot handle them and some even go into shock when you do handle them. They need to be kept properly to ensure their safety.

So don't fall in love with the cuteness until you learn more about them. We now have a quail section in our learning center here on BYC on Quail and raising them you might take a look at.

THank you two crows for saving me and the poor quail from future heartbreak. I will stick to my chickens and guineas. I figuredthey would be a little out of my league and I am glad I asked. **** the feed store for putting such cute babies on display LOL,. And thank god I lost my visa card yesterday or I am sure that I would have left with SOMETHING. On a lighter note, my Roo that I lost on Easter Sunday, Cookie, just posthumously became a Daddy. How I miss that big boy. He was a **** good kid and died protecting my favorite hen Faith. So Baby Cookie lives on....
