:yaI am SO EXCITED! :weeTo announce my two new babies! I got them today and have fallen in LOVE! My problem? I know NOTHING about geese! :lau All I know is that they were born June 1st by a turkey and don’t have the same parents. Their breeder is a good friend of mine and we do trades here and there so I gave them 10 Muscovy ducklings and they gave me these two gorgeous creatures. They told me they are lavender Sebastopol geese and will make great pets. Do you agree?

What is your advice regarding taming, feeding and do you have an idea what sex they are?!

Any advice and cute piccies of your geese would be great!! :love

I am not an expert but my guess is that they are American Geese (American Blue and/or American Lavender). I do not see any Sebastopol myself. As to gender, just a wild guess that the taller is male and the shorter is female. Unless they are measurably different ages in which case they may be both one or the other.

We have Toulouse and they are very friendly and love their treats...

OMG!! Congratulations!! Oh I just want to kiss their fuzzy little cheeks!! Not much knowledge or advice from me as I am a first time goose owner as well, other than they will steal your heart quickly!! Mine loves treats...mealworms, cucumbers, anything veggie really. Spend a lot of time with them and they will be comfortable with you. Also, if you can sort of socialize them, like with dogs, have neighbors and family to visit and feed treats.

I just got 2 baby American Buff goslings a a couple weeks ago. I named them Nibbles & Ivy, I try to spend time with them every day and they come running when I call them. They grow fast!

SOOOOOOO cute!!! I will definitely keep that in mind. I hear they are smart like dogs!

Nice goslings! The lavender gosling is a male and the brown is a female.

The lavender looks like a cross.

The beautiful colour indicates that the the parents were not the same colour (white male and brown female).

My guess would be Toulouse and Embden mix

Either way they're beautiful

Thank you! I am so glad they are a boy and a girl! That will be so much fun when they have babies! Here is a picture that my friend sent me of her geese. She said the parents are in there somewhere!

So very cute. :love My foursome are Toulouse. They will be seven weeks old tomorrow. I agree with everyone, treats to get them use to you and socialize as much as you can. Mind did great at a family bbq of 20+ people. Just stood off to the side and watched/grazed. They are learning “no bites” still but are getting better at it. They will stand there vibrating their necks trying to resist the urge to nibble. But they are learning. Congratulations.

Thank you!! What cuties!! What are your birds favourite treats? I am trying to socialise the geese and the ducklings together and really want them to be friendly but wondering if it’s even possible with my little ducklings, haha! I think my guineas are more friendly than my ducks and I want to make sure that the geese won’t end up like my ducks!
