New "Genesis" Incubator Questions

Glad to see this post, my Genesis is coming this week.

This is what I read

Simply plug it in, add water for humidity and eggs, Nothing to set up or adjust. The pre-set microprocessor based thermostat digitally regulates itself in the 99.9 degree range.

My R-Com says the best temp for circulated air incubators is 99.5 so I think you are okay. Mine is staying exactly at 100 according to both thermometers.

Thanks for the info as well - my Genesis will be delivered tomorrow according to the UPS tracking number. Yes, I've been tracking it from Texas everyday since last Wednesday. Pathetic.

Okay, I give... I have a question about the Genesis also. A lot of the information I've read about hatching eggs talk about ventillation. The instructions with the Genesis says not to remove the plug unless you're at an altitude of 6000 ft above sea level. Any advice? Should I remove the plug at all? If so, then when?

Since I see some of you have the 1588, I am wondering about the noise it makes.

I just got mine going yesterday, It is extremely noisy to me, loud grinding sound.
I tried calling tech. support, recording said they were unable to answer questions at that time,

I am wondering if this is normal, I know the update seys metal gears will increase noise, but I think it's too loud.
You can hear it in adjoining rooms.
Tks Ruth

Hmmm. Mine makes a humming noise, but it's not very loud. It's louder than I thought it would be when others said it made a humming noise. I can't hear it in other rooms, though. It really is pretty quiet, about akin to running a fan at night for white noise.

I love my 1588. I have 3. One runs quieter than the other 2. Temps are within a half degree of each other. Never had a temp spike. Everything runs like greased clockwork.

I had a breat hatch last weekend and will set eggs again this week. I also have 2 batches of goose eggs going.

The red plug on top I have used to help bring down humidty. When my chicks were hatching the humidity got up to 87%. I opened that plug and got it back down to 71%.

I have 3 of these, 3 homemade bators and a Lyon's trandparent Hen. I love them all. They all do the job. I prefer the 1588 because I have auto turners in those!

The 1588 is one of the best small incubators for beginners and for more experienced hatchers.

I only purchase direct from the manufacturer. I have always had excellent customer service when needed.

Just last week I had a unit cutting out on one. I called GQF (makers of Hovabator and where I purchased all of mine). I was told - no problem. We'll send you a new. I asked should I send back the old one? He said, no it isn't worth it. Just keep it. We are sorry you have had problems. How many manufacturers would do that?

For the record the problems was a loose wiring in the plug so that it would cut out if any tension was placed on it. Easy to remedy but just aggravating.

I love GQF and Hovabator!

mine makes a humming noise too, but it`s not to loud, I can handle it and have actually began to not even notice it anymore. I have 3 kids, so I`m REALLY good at blocking out loud noises. lol
Monday will be week 2 for my chicken eggs, so far so good, everything looks good I guess. Temp/humidity. so I`ll see on hatch day how I make out. good luck with all of yours. Tony
