Hello!
Introducing my newest girl, who my aunt and I have named Tinkerbell. We were thinking of lost and found, and the name just popped into our heads at the same time.
I believe she's a BR pullet, but I'm not entirely sure. She's in her temporary-temporary pen, and we're putting her in the quarantine pen today. I have 6 other BR pullets at about 6 months, and I originally thought this girl was one of them when she turned up in my yard! Alas, she is not - she's a new girl.
I asked around my neighborhood and surrounding farms up to a 2-3 mile radius, and everyone said she wasn't theirs, so I'm keeping her now. She was extremely dehydrated and hungry when she turned up yesterday, and looked very skinny. She's quite skittish, and freaks out if I go near her, but I'm hoping to work on that while she's in quarantine.
If anyone has any tips on figuring out a chicken's age (other than egg laying lol), I'd love to know!
She looks pretty healthy, no mites, I didn't see any lice, and everything seems good so far. Will be looking for any runny noses, eyes, etc. in the coming weeks.
She introduced herself to my chickens on her own - should I be concerned? I'm not sure how long she was out with them.
