They are so intelligent so they need a lot of stimulation in the form of grazing and exercise. if not they tend to get into trouble. kinda like a 2 yr old. Thanks! We do love him.I am glad to hear he might be young. We plan on going to some auctions to see what we can find for his company. So far, having a goose is nice and much easier than I thought.![]()

Hi and Welcome to BYC and Goose Lovers site. Goose starter is fine and forging is really good too, so sounds like your off to a good start. I found this on Metzers web site hopefully it will help. http://www.metzerfarms.com/RearingInstructions.cfm?CustID=1539111 How old are your goslings and what is your brooder set up like?Hello I am brand new to this site. I have to say it's very helpful. I signed up to see if you can please help me. I have 2 goslingsbut have no idea what to do or feed them. I also have chicks but thank god I know and still learning to take care of baby chickens. But I am a first time mother goose. Someone told me that one of my goslings is a chinese goose also know as a swan goose. The other one I have no idea.
I also don't know if they are male or female. So if someone can please help me. Tell me what to do. So far they are on gooses starter feed and love to forge on grass. Any advice will help. Thanks and god bless.![]()

No problem at allThanks I appreciate it.
A brooder is where you keep your goslings and chicks inside until they are old enough to be outside permanently here is a link from the duck thread that explains about care and brooding which even though is geared towards ducks I feel is also useful for gosling also since when young their needs are so close.I have no idea how old is the chinese goose, I bought it from a feed store about 2wks ago. The another goose I bought 5 days ago. I live in tampa and it's nice and warm during the day but at night I bring in the goslings in my house because it's too chilly for them. I also have 4 chicks as well and they all get along just great. Oh by the way what is a brooder? Sorry I will ask if there is something I don't know. Knowledge is power and I always learn something new everyday. I really appreciate you helping me.![]()
God bless
Oh by the way my name is Paola and nice to meet you!!!![]()

Your babies are adorable, the top one looks like an African or Chinese gosling looking at the lil top of it's bill, I'm not sure about the other one but they sure are sweeties.. you can give your goslings chooped up very fine Romaine lettuce, chopped Broccoli chopped fine cabbage or hang some leaves up and let them peck at them. My Toulouse goose loves mealworms not my Embden gander. greens can and should be a big part of their diet once they can be outside all the time and can graze on grass they may not need any other greens, mine usually get the grocery store greens during the winter. I usually give my flock mealworms in the after noon as a treat. I toss them on the ground and they scarf them right up, you don't want to over do on the treats so they will eat their other feed to since so much of their nutrients are coming from it right now. maybe a couple table spoons to start with. some have said chopped apple with out peeling is a favorite with their geese, mine don't care for it, but they do love grapes, if you don't buy organic make sure to wash all veggies and fruits real good before feeding to them. Right now they need to get use to the water so start them off with just up to top of their legs then gradually add till they are just floating they will give you the cue as to when to increase depth, once they get started washing then they will be swimming under water and having a blast but at their age the water needs to be warm, and they should never be left alone and always have a way to get out and in safely. once they are completely feathered in then they'll be ready to have water for swimming all the time, but still need to be able to get out safely. For now I have them in a homemade bird coop which has a lot of room for them to move around, but it has chicken wire all around except for the roof. They spend their day outside forging on grass. For now I use a tall box with bedding at night and they sleep in the office nice and warm. I am still looming for a permanent shelter because they are growing so fast. I do have some questions.
1. Are geese vegetarian because someone has told that they love meal worms. I mixed it in they feed and they gobbled it up, as well as the chicks.
And if they do eat and like it, how much should I give them?
2. What can I feed the geese beside the starter feed?
3. How can I get my geese to swim in the mini pool?? Every time I put them in they immediately want to get out.
4. I attached some pics of my babies, can you please tell me what type of breed they are and how old they might be?
I am so sorry for so many questions but I want to take really good care of them. I appreciate you taking your time to help me!!!
