Oh all the pics are so beautiful! I would love to have every kind of goose there is. My husband on the other hand.....not so keen on that idea. ROFL!!

I'll be happy with my Sebbies for right now.

Ya'll pics are wonderful, they are not as big as i thought they would be, are they full grown? Are they male/female? Are they still nice? Do they go thru an ugly stage while getting their feathers?

Soccer Mom, where in TX are you?

So, the little girl, Cotton, doesn't have the tufted head as much as the boy, Buzz (I think they are girl and boy), and then all the pics on the website make the babies all look the same, so unless I hatched these myself, I guess there is no real way of knowing the breed - they could have been mistaken potentially cause I got them at a feed store who probably got them from Ideal.

Anyway, I have a few questions...
1. I let them out into the yard for an hour or two a day and they eat grass, I haven't bought grit so am I hurting them? I have put extra dirt/sand in the area that they roam in, is that sufficient? They seem to have no problem pooping...
2. They are eating chick starter, Dumond (sp), so I am worried about Niacin? difficiency, I had read about brewers yeast, but they are also being raised with baby chicks, so will the yeast hurt the chicks? How do I ensure the are getting enough yeast? or can I give them some boiled egg everyday? I want to go buy that book about Geese today, hope I find it, but ya'll probably know more...

Any other suggestions/advise you have is appreciated. Ya'll are fab! j

Refresh my memory. Where did you get them? There is a variety of Romans that do not have the tuft. I can't tell by your pics if she has one or not. I think it is too young to tell if they are male/female. I don't vent sex mine - I just figure it out as they grow. I've never used yeast - I can't help you there.

Mine are pretty small as adults - for the most part. Some are a litlle smaller and more compact than others. Two of mine have pink beaks vs. orange beaks. Mine are very nice. The ones that are not tame are still calm around me. Tamer ones are very sweet.

Most things go through the gangly stage a time or two before becoming adults.

There are 2 kinds of Romans. I think Dave Holderread says that they are very different in his opinion. Some used to think one was just a tufted variety and the other plain. Go read what he has to say about the 2 kinds if you havn't already. My Romans are small compared to other geese. My female is very personable, the male is a bit bitey. lol

Hey there,

I'm getting some goslings next week, Roman Tufteds and White Embdens...I was so excited to see the pics in this posting. I can't wait to get some of these now!

Thank you so much for sharing!
Take Care,
Bill.
