New gosling with eye infection :(

I feel like I'm talking to myself lol. Last night before bed I put some antibiotics in their water. Since they seem better today- I will do it again today. I will also never again order geese past May. I really think it's just too hard on them. Lesson learned too. May would be the perfect time for us to order ducks/geese though. Cool for shipping but in a couple weeks plenty warm at night to not need a heat lamp. I am tentatively hopeful since they are being so cheeky this morning and talking to me. Thank you Celtics Oak Farm for your advice.

Their personalities are really so much more calm than ducklings. Already I can see this. They seem to WANT to interact with you. That's so sweet!

You are most welcome. Just got back in and catch up reading. See if you can find save a chick or Nutri Drench Poultry drench (either would be a good addition to the water) they offer victims and electolites. Save a chick comes in powder packets, the other is a dark liquid with a dropper. I would also keep up the antibiotics. A tall coffee mug of water to dip and wash her face would be good too.

Thank you- I have Rooster Booster which is what our feed store carries - it has electrolytes, vitamins and (brain fart) but the lactobacillus type cultures. I did see Nutri-drench at Tractor Supply and can totally pick some of that up if it's better. I'll keep up with the antibiotics. John Metzer said if I lost either of them even past the 24 hours- to call them and it sounds like they would work with me. I don't want to have to do that. I tried to keep my distance and not get attached the moment I saw that Sarah has an eye infection. But they are really TOO darn sweet. You can't help but love them. I had to fiddle with their temps too- 95 was too hot for them. They were really restless...90 is their sweet spot right now. I notice they calmed down when I cooled their brooder down a bit. These geese were purchased for pets for my husband and I. All of our other pets (except my bearded dragon) have been pretty much taken over by our kids. And after all the stories I have read on here- we knew we wanted geese. I hope our first experience is a success. I appreciate your help- I was a little lost yesterday and panicky. I thought they would be just like the ducks but bigger and I honestly do not find that to be true. I hope to have some perky and pretty pics to share soon!

So sorry your first goose experience isn't going well so far

. I hope chuck and Sarah continue to get better. Celtic has given you great advice and they should hopefully be make a full recovery

I feel like such a boob! I have the Holderread goose book. I've read it. But it's like the minute I got them- all the info I put in my head- fell out somewhere lol. Seriously thanks!

You are not alone. I have dozens of poultry books, but I always post here before I look in the books. Having moral support when one of the flock get sick is like having a doctor in the house for all the stress of dealing with a sick pet. Sounds like you are getting great advise and are doing all you can for Chuck and Sarah. They are lucky to have found you.

Thanks everyone!

Bhonkers- I did take them out yesterday. The chicks are using the large dog crate that I usually let the ducks hang outside in- so I don't have anything to corral them. So they were sort of all over the place and me running after them. Today I spent alternating medicated water, then their vitamin/electrolyte/culture water to boost their immune system plus drops in Sarah's eyes. I gave them a small pile of freshly trimmed wheat grass pieces and they went to town on those. Since they have been eating so well today- I am going to take them out tomorrow for a little while tomorrow. I'm hoping all the contact, talking to them etc will help me manage them tomorrow when I take them out to the little fenced in area again. :D
