New Guinea keets!

The niacin is easy to supplement by using vitamin B complex. Dissolve 1/2 of a capsule or tablet of vitamin B complex in one gallon of water. Make it the only source of water and do not add anything else to the water. It should be the only source of water and should be made fresh daily.

As far as the others, sorry, I don't know an easy answer. The chain feed stores are really stupid and cannot understand the concept of a guaranteed sale. I am fortunate that a chain lumberyard carries feed and were willing to add a proper turkey or game bird starter to their feed assortment when I asked them to order it for me.

If they had refused I would have resorted to my back up option and become my own feed store. There is a market for proper feed.

Good luck.
Do you know the minimum required niacin, lysine, and methionine percentages do I can compare feeds?
I’m going to get the 24% protein because what I have now is only 20%.

Not off of the top of my head but @Kiki has a link to all kinds of feeds and their ingredients in her signature. Unfortunately the niacin levels are not a USDA requirement to be included on the ingredients albel.

Well the 24% starter has lysine levels of 1.35 which looks adequate comparing it to gamebird starters (it has .35 more lysine and 4% more protein than the one I’m feeding now. The methionine is .5 which looks a little low or the same as some gamebird starters.

so I bought these keets on Thursday and they had just arrived at the feee store, so I’m guessing they are around 5 days old. 2 have died. They both felt lighter and quickly start sleeping more and being weaker. Last night I put a tiny Batam chick that was weak, but it was weak when I bought it. I force fed it and it was getting better, and this morning it was a little more lively, then an hour later it was dead. But I don’t think its a disease because it is too fast of a turn around to spread and kill the guinea.
They are on 24% as of this morning and they had nutridrench in their water, but I just put fresh clean water in it.
